What are Execution Classes (EXC)?

They ensure that the fabrication, welding, inspection, and documentation match the risk and complexity of the structure being built. There are four Execution Classes, each increasing in technical demand, from EXC1 (simple structures) to EXC4 (complex, high-risk structures).
What does certification involve?
Certification proves your organisation runs safely, consistently, and with full traceability, covering your FPC, welding control, material tracking, and compliance with technical standards.
How long does certification take?
This will depend on whether you are already prepared or starting from scratch, but can take as little as four to eight weeks. If you already have ISO 9001, the process could be faster. A gap analysis will give you a more accurate idea of timescales.
Do I need a Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC)?
Yes. A Responsible Welding Coordinator is required for compliance. You can employ an internal RWC or hire external RWC services depending on the needs of your business.
